The name "Hazel Ro" was simply derived the love, honor, and respect Ro has for her dear late mother, Hazel who lost her battle with Alzheimer's in 2014. Ro states, "I still carry her with me daily and I wanted to have a way of including her on this literary journey with me because I know how proud she would have been. Therefore, including her name in my pen name is my way of showing her just how much she meant to me and that my success is her success. Not to mention, it was only befitting because I embody the very essence of my mother. She was a very strong, loving, intelligent and independent woman and she installed those same qualities in me. Therefore, I am HAZEL RO!"
After attempting several different career paths, Hazel Ro finally embraced and began following her passion and God-given talent by making her debut as a Contemporary Fiction Romance Author and Entrepreneur. Her love for writing started at an early age when she simply found release in journaling her thoughts.
However, never in a million years did Hazel Ro imagine her writing manifesting into what has become her first published Novel under Carl Weber and Urban Renaissance Publishing House. I Didn't Think You Existed was released August 2021 and the first release of many subsequent works to come. Its story line, along with her other releases, uses an entertaining, yet effective way of dealing with real life issues such as infidelity, betrayal, lies, broken relationships, spirituality, and so much more. The author's ultimate objective through her novels is to show the drama and negativity with the wrong choices in hopes of promoting and encouraging healthy African American relationships in the end.
Aside from writing novels, Hazel Ro is passionate about anything of the arts. She co-produced her first stage play, For Better or For Worse, in 2012 and loves music, poetry and singing. Community Relations is also another facet of the author outside of writing. She loves helping, inspiring and encouraging others which has sparked her motivation to begin The Literary Princess Foundation. Through the foundation, Hazel Ro hopes to guide teen girls in their own literary journeys and show them the many opportunities or career choices that could stem from writing one book.
The author is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but found her home in Chicago, IL since April 2015. Now she is embracing her southern family roots by relocating to Memphis, Tennessee in May 2024.

9. She can watch Love and Basketball over and over again without getting sick of it.

Honestly, a little of everything that God enables me to do. Besides trying to live a simple good, healthy, anointed and prosperous life, I'm trying to touch the lives of others anyway that I can. I've let go of trying to control what happens. Only God knows the plans He has to prosper me and I'm fully enjoying the journey. I do hope, pray and manifest that somewhere down the line I can get into writing for a television series or even become the female version of Mr. Tyler Perry by producing stage plays based off of my novels.
I pour so much of myself into my writing that I simply want everyone that picks up a Hazel Ro novel to take a little piece of me with them.
